Racing Incident Report

Trainer A T Millard was fined the sum of $3,000 for presenting EZRA in the Parade Ring without a parade hood, part of that horse’s declared gear.
JUNEAU PARK and EVERYONE’S JOY began only fairly.
EZRA shifted out at the start and bumped PURE LEGEND. PURE LEGEND then became unbalanced and shifted in, resulting in EZRA, EMERALD SPUR and JUNEAU PARK being crowded for room.
From a wide barrier, FUN LEGEND was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
From a wide barrier, GUY DRAGON was also shifted across behind runners in the early stages, however, for the majority of the race travelled wide and without cover.
After being ridden along from the outside barrier to obtain a forward position, THUNDER STOMP travelled keenly in the lead after the 1100 Metres and would not relax.
Near the 1150 Metres, JUNEAU PARK momentarily raced tight inside EMERALD SPUR which shifted in.
After being crossed by STREET SCREAM (M Chadwick) near the 1100 Metres, EVERYONE’S JOY improved to be racing inside the heels of STREET SCREAM which shifted out marginally when awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRIVATE ROCKET which was racing close to the heels of RACING FIGHTER as that horse was steadied to obtain cover behind HELLO BEAUTY and when taken out by ULTIMATE GLORY which shifted out marginally. When PRIVATE ROCKET shifted in near the 950 Metres, STREET SCREAM shifted in away from the heels of that horse which resulted in EVERYONE’S JOY, which was travelling keenly, being awkwardly placed inside the heels of STREET SCREAM. EVERYONE’S JOY then continued to travel keenly and improved further inside STREET SCREAM where there was tight running room as STREET SCREAM continued to race close to the heels of PRIVATE ROCKET. Then making the turn near the 800 Metres, EZRA, which was racing inside EVERYONE’S JOY, was severely checked as a result of EVERYONE’S JOY being taken in by STREET SCREAM which continued to be awkwardly placed behind PRIVATE ROCKET and racing tight inside EMERALD SPUR. FUN LEGEND, which was following EZRA, was severely checked away from the heels of that horse in consequence and shifted out, resulting in PURE LEGEND being hampered. In this incident, EVERYONE’S JOY was also badly hampered and lost ground. Whilst this incident was one of some significance with a number of horses sustaining interference, the Stewards were of the opinion that STREET SCREAM, which was initially racing in a one-off position, had shifted out due to the influence of PRIVATE ROCKET and ULTIMATE GLORY shifting out marginally which resulted in M Chadwick being of the mistaken but not unreasonable belief that he was racing in a two wide position. For this reason, the Stewards were satisfied that Jockey Chadwick was not careless in his riding at this stage to the degree that a charge of careless riding should be issued against him. Nonetheless he was reprimanded and told to be aware of the circumstances of the race so that he is able to respond to those circumstances in order to prevent causing interference to other runners.
At the entrance to the Straight, ULTIMATE GLORY was shifted in away from the heels of BEAUTY SPIRIT to improve.
When questioned regarding the performance of JUNEAU PARK, J Moreira stated that it was intended for the horse to be ridden in a position forward of midfield if possible. He said after being crowded for room between runners shortly after the start, JUNEAU PARK was required to race further back in the field than had been hoped. He said although JUNEAU PARK travelled keenly in the early stages, he was satisfied with the manner in which the horse settled during the race, however, JUNEAU PARK came under heavy pressure rounding the Home Turn and responded only fairly in the early part of the Straight. He added JUNEAU PARK was staying on satisfactorily passing the 200 Metres, however, the horse shortened stride over the concluding stages which indicated to him that it may not have appreciated the "Good to Firm” track. A veterinary inspection of JUNEAU PARK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, JUNEAU PARK will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of EVERYONE’S JOY immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
A veterinary inspection of EZRA immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
JUNEAU PARK, BEAUTY SPIRIT and HELLO BEAUTY were sent for sampling.
<4/5/2020 Additional Veterinary Report>EVERYONE’S JOY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said at that time the horse was a "roarer” which had previously been reported. EVERYONE’S JOY was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer F C Lor this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to be lame in its left front leg. Before being allowed to race again, EVERYONE’S JOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
