Racing Incident Report
ENCORE BOY was steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
C Schofield (RED DESERT) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of ELUSIVE STATE, causing that horse to be hampered and lose ground when unnecessarily crowded for room inside RED DESERT. C Schofield was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Saturday, 17 April 2021 and to expire on Thursday, 22 April 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Schofield was fined $30,000. When ELUSIVE STATE was hampered, CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and ENCORE BOY were inconvenienced in consequence.
Near the 1100 Metres, KINGS SHIELD and MAGNIFICENT bumped and became unbalanced as a result of both horses shifting ground. MAGNIFICENT then shifted out and bumped HONGKONG GREAT before shifting back in and again made contact with KINGS SHIELD, causing all three horses to be hampered.
Close to the finishing line, GLORIOUS ARTIST and PRECIOUSSHIP raced tight.
After the race, M F Poon expressed concern regarding the action of ENCORE BOY. A veterinary inspection of ENCORE BOY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, ENCORE BOY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of MAGNIFICENT and RIGHTEOUS DOCTRINE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that GLORIOUS ARTIST was noted to be displaying post-race distress. Before being allowed to race again, GLORIOUS ARTIST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
ELUSIVE STATE, GLORIOUS ARTIST and PRECIOUSSHIP were sent for sampling.
