Racing Incident Report

FLYING SWORD shifted out at the start and bumped SHINING ON which in turn shifted out and brushed SUN OF MAKFI.
STRATHMARTINE was crowded for room on jumping between ON EXCEL STAR and ERNEST FEELING which shifted out.
From the outside barriers, DREAM WARRIORS and EL VALIENTE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1600 Metres, STRATHMARTINE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of REGENCY MASTER when being steadied to obtain a position closer to the rail.
After being left racing wide and without cover after the 1300 Metres, ROYAL RACER was then ridden along to improve its position to race outside the lead after the 900 Metres.
Passing the 750 Metres, SHINING ON got its head up when awkwardly placed behind ERNEST FEELING.
Passing the 450 Metres, EL VALIENTE was taken wider by DREAM WARRIORS which shifted out to commence improving.
C Y Ho (STAY CHILL) explained that he was asked to ride the horse positively tonight as usual. He said despite riding STAY CHILL along in the early stages, the horse did not show as much early speed as anticipated and when ROYAL RACER, THUNDER STOMP and ON EXCEL STAR were all ridden to obtain a forward position, he believed he would have had to make too much use of STAY CHILL to continue to pursue a forward position and therefore approaching the winning post on the first occasion he elected to steady his mount and obtain a position with cover further back in the field than had been intended. He said although STAY CHILL was required to race in a three wide position approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, he had cover behind ROYAL RACER until that horse was allowed to improve its position after the 1200 Metres which resulted in STAY CHILL being left racing wide and without cover after the 900 Metres.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of REGENCY MASTER, Z Purton stated that when racing in the second half of the field, REGENCY MASTER travelled satisfactorily in the early and middle stages. He said after the 700 Metres he was unable to commence improving his position as he was caught behind horses which were not improving. He said whilst he was not able to commence improving into the race as early as he would have wished, he believed that after shifting to the outside of STRATHMARTINE at the entrance to the Straight, he was able to place REGENCY MASTER under full pressure, however, the horse did not respond to his riding and failed to finish off its race. A veterinary inspection of REGENCY MASTER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of REGENCY MASTER, favourite for tonight’s race, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, REGENCY MASTER will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of EL VALIENTE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
REGENCY MASTER, SUN OF MAKFI and ERNEST FEELING were sent for sampling.
