6 12 WATCHMAN (CB327) F Coetzee B/SR Jumped awkwardly and soon raced at the rear. Near the back but no more than 3Ls off the lead turning in. Kept on same pace in the straight and unable to draw any closer.

8 4 THAT'S IT (CE223) B Prebble -- 2-wide at midfield early stages. Steadily made progress from 800 M out and was behind the pace heading into the 600 M turn. Badly hampered and carried very wide when leader broke down 500 M out. Unable to recover.
9 1 WEALTHY TREASURE (CC270) M W Leung -- Soon in a forward spot. Raced alongside the leader back straight. Badly hampered and taken wide when leader broke down 500 M out. Never recovered.
10 11 PALIO KING (CG073) S K Sit TT Failed to find cover and raced wide in a rearward spot early stages. Remained towards the rear with cover in a 3-wide spot back straight. Last to enter home straight and made no impression thereafter.
PU 5 VICTORY START (CG216) A Delpech TT Raced 3-wide behind midfield. Improved to midfield at the home turn but was checked severely and taken out of the race when a runner broke down 500 M out.
PU 6 SOLAR EMPIRE (CB299) Y T Cheng -- Led race before breaking down near the 500 M and was eased out of the race.
