2 GOUF (CJ227) C W Wong -- Swiftly away, drifted back to a 3-wide position better than midfield, had a tendency to hang out in middle stages, gradually picked up in straight, in front near 100 M and showed the right battling qualities to hold off rivals.
7 NATIONAL GLORY (CJ176) D Whyte B Began in line, shaken up to take closer order just behind the leading trio, tracked well on turning, brought with a challenge inside 400 M, ran on well but was always shaded by the eventual winner.
11 LUCKY BO BO (CJ350) Y T Cheng -- Away with them, rolled forward to share lead in a position one off the fence, travelled strongly going into straight, went to the front inside 350 M but was unable to shake them off, kept giving in the run to the line, headed near 100 M.
14 STAY YOUNG (CD109) K C Leung -- Well enough away, restrained to take cover in midfield, travelled well but was carried wide on turning, took time to get going in straight, ran on well inside 300 M but could never quite get on terms with the winner.
1 GOLDEN BALL (CH128) G Mosse PC- One of the first to jump, soon taken to an ideal position on the rail tracking leaders, ran on well down the inside on straightening and looked a possible winner inside 200 M, but effort just flattened in the closing stages.
9 CARE FREE MIDAS (CH053) O Doleuze B Broke well from the inside barrier, held up patiently on the fence about 3Ls off the pace, used little in running, shifted away from the rail to find daylight in straight, steadied near 300 M but stayed on OK towards the end.
5 ENCOSTA DON (CH305) B Prebble B Taken back to the rear after start, checked on turning before gradually shifted out to avoid traffic, had 5Ls to make up coming off the bend, made some progress down the outside without seriously threatening.
4 STAREILLY (CJ083) K L Chui TT Slowly away, settled near the rear trailing 5Ls to leader, gave limited response on straightening, hung out under pressure and was difficult to ride. (Bled.)
10 GIANT BLIZZARD (CJ171) J Victoire CP1 Jumped awkwardly and lost ground, travelled in a rearward position 4Ls back, 3-wide making home turn, couldn't step up a gear in straight and stayed on only fairly. No impression.
6 LEAD THE PROSPECTS (CJ195) W M Lai -- Quickly into stride, took up running near 1000 M at a steady tempo, pressed by runners on its outside rounding the home turn, under pressure approaching home straight, battled on for some distance but was noticeably weakened inside 150 M.
12 MASTER TOWER (CK012) T H So -- Jumped well from a wide barrier, travelled close enough to the pace, moved up near 800 M to race on the outside of leaders, gradually outpaced on straightening and faded out of contention inside 200 M.
3 GREEN SUPER (CJ103) H W Lai -- Jumped with rest, lacked early speed, assumed a position in midfield 3Ls off the pace, found little when asked for an effort, checked near 150 M and no extra thereafter.
8 AMITYSHIP (CK023) C K Tong TT1 Ordinary jump, taken to a 2-wide position in midfield, showed greenness in its running, unable to pick up when required, dropped off from 150 M.
13 RAINBOW STAR (CJ275) Z Purton -- Standard break, unable to find cover and was inclined to hang out for the major parts of the race, didn't negotiate the turn and from then on was always an uphill struggle. Dropped out rapidly entering final 200 M.
