5 MR MEDICI (CK218) H W Lai -- Settled well in 5th from the off, tracked the breakaway leader passing 600 M, had more than 2Ls to make up but despite the step up in trip, stayed on extremely well and found plenty to prevail inside 100 M.
9 VIGOR DELIGHT (CK070) M Du Plessis H Travelled handily in 3rd before taking it up passing 600 M, established a 2Ls lead 400 M out, kept on well but was picked off inside final 100 M. Commendable effort.
7 WIN PRACTITIONER (CG180) C K Tong -- Slotted into a 2-wide spot behind midfield, way off the pace in the first half and was a shade keen in his run, took a while to quicken up from off the pace but never troubled the first two.
8 TOP HONOR (CE183) Y T Cheng -- Behind midfield in 8th, shifted out to 3-wide without cover halfway down the back straight, had 5Ls to make up passing 400 M, couldn't match with the first two but ran on doggedly to the line.
3 BEST FRIEND (CH240) E Saint-Martin B In a rearward position 20Ls behind the runaway leader in the first half, moved closer as the tempo steadied halfway, carried wide turning home, battled for 3rd place but ran flat over the final 150 M.
2 JAMESINA (CH290) D Whyte CP/TT Held up near the rear in a fast run race, way off the pace in the first half but moved closer rounding the home turn, didn't find quite as much as expected when asked for maximum effort and was never going to reach the principals.
1 VIVA MACAU (CH110) D Beadman CP/TT Settled in 4th but more than 10Ls behind, gradually crept closer approaching home turn, had a clear run down the inside but lacked a change of gear.
10 REAL SPECIAL (CH320) W M Lai XB Taken back to the rear and more than 20Ls behind the runaway leader at one stage, not used in running and had 7Ls to make up passing 400 M, couldn't find much on asking and finished the race one-paced.
4 FEARLESS (CH301) W C Marwing B Quietly ridden despite the fast early tempo, behind midfield more than 15Ls back down the back straight, closer on turning but never looked like figuring from that position. The last 200 M may have just found him out.
11 SPECIAL DRAGON (CH325) M Chadwick TT Pressed the leader making the 1st turn and set a very fast early pace, eased back entering the home straight, struggled for pace passing 600 M and ran out of gas inside 200 M. (Jockey questioned.)
6 SILVER SUN (CE126) K L Chui -- Set a blistering pace in the first 1000 M and was 10Ls ahead of the main group down the back straight, slowed down approaching the home turn and was headed near 600 M, weakened early in straight. (Jockey questioned.)
