Racing Incident Report

On entering the track, D Whyte was dislodged from SPARKO. The horse was quickly caught, remounted and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the Start who passed the horse suitable to race. SMILING UNION missed the start. SUPER FORTUNE jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped PERFECT CHAMPION. As a consequence of this, PERFECT CHAMPION made contact with SUPREME PARTNERS. About the 800 Metres, INCA ROSE became unbalanced when crowded by GAGNANT which was momentarily taken in by SPEED CAT (F Coetzee) which shifted ground when not clear. Despite the efforts made by F Coetzee to relieve the crowding that was occurring on his inside, the Stewards did consider in the circumstances it was appropriate to record a reprimand against him. He was told to exercise care at all times when shifting ground. About the 600 Metres, INCA ROSE became unbalanced, got its head up and shifted out abruptly. This caused some inconvenience to RALPHIE BOY. In the middle stages, SPARKO hung in. After the race, it was noted that one of the blinker cups on SUPER FORTUNE had loosened. When weakening in the Straight, HURRAY hung in. W C Marwing (SUNNY DAY) explained at the horse's last start it raced greenly and today over a shorter trip it was hoped that SUNNY DAY would take up a position just behind the pace. He said however SUNNY DAY did not show much pace in the early stages and got a little further back than planned. He did say there is consideration now being given to freshen the horse up.
