Racing Incident Report

The explanations tendered by Mr W L Wong regarding his having declared RAIN WOOD LANE for the race when it was being transferred to the stable of Mr G Lane was accepted. Mr Wong stated that at declaration time whilst he had been advised informally by Mr Lane that the horse was going to his (Mr Lane's) yard, no official notification at that time had been given to him. After being boxed, KOWLOON CHIEF became fractious, got its head down. The horse was released from the gates, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He discussed the matter with the rider and following that KOWLOON CHIEF was passed suitable to race. TIME WELL was slow to jump, bumped the hindquarters of KOWLOON CHIEF which shifted out, then shortly after this was checked when crowded between KOWLOON CHIEF and PERFECT SPORT, both of which was shifting ground. As a consequence of this, TIME WELL got back. AMIABLE was slowly away. Shortly after the start, KOWLOON CHIEF and PERFECT SPORT bumped. Near the 700 Metres, MISSION SEALED brushed the running rail. About the 700 Metres, SALLIAN EXPRESS and PROFIT MASTER came together when momentarily tight inside PERFECT SPORT. About the 600 Metres, PROFIT MASTER was checked when crowded by PERFECT SPORT (W M Lai) which shifted onto the running rail when not clear. When PROFIT MASTER checked, MISSION SEALED, which was following, was hampered in consequence. W M Lai was severely reprimanded and told he will be expected to exercise far more care when shifting ground. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, TIME WELL got its head up and had a tendency to lay out. In the early part of the Straight, CORE PRINCIPLES was steadied and shifted in when disappointed for running between PERFECT SPORT and MASTERKEY. Also in the early part of the Straight, WINWIN COMBINATION and KOWLOON CHIEF came together. For some distance after the 200 Metres, MISSION SEALED had difficulty obtaining running between CORE PRINCIPLES and MASTERKEY. When obtaining a run close to the line, MISSION SEALED brushed with MASTERKEY. Throughout the race, CORE PRINCIPLES hung in. PROFIT MASTER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
