Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the barriers, the Veterinary Surgeon noticed blood in the mouth of FIBBER. He said he examined the horse and found that it had lost an off side upper temporary tooth and this in his opinion caused the light bleeding. He said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. FIBBER was slowly away. PRIME WITNESS jumped awkwardly with its head up and shifted out. TAURUS jumped very badly and threw its head about. STERLING STAR also left the gates poorly. M de Montfort (FIBBER) said the intention was to be somewhere about midfield if possible. He explained however FIBBER missed the start slightly, was then further inconvenienced by PRIME WITNESS which on leaving the gates shifted out abruptly, because of this FIBBER got further back in the early stages than planned. He said then on two different occasions through the race he was steadied when momentarily crowded, but then in the Straight when the horse did have clear running did not find the line as strongly as he thought it would. M de Montfort concluded by saying that following the race he and the Trainer had discussed the possibility that FIBBER may be looking for more ground in its races. FIBBER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
