Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading before the race, it was noted that DANCING SOUND was bleeding from the mouth. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who reported that it had sustained some injuries to its gum when fitted with a twitch whilst the tongue tie was being put on. The Veterinary Surgeon discussed the matter with the Trainer and after this he decided that DANCING SOUND was in his opinion suitable to race. CALIFORNIA TYCOON was slowly away. POWER OF SUCCESS left the gates badly, shifted some ground and just after the start brushed the hindquarters of BANK ON IT. DANCING SOUND jumped awkwardly, bumped the inside of its gate. In the Straight, DANCING SOUND raced ungenerously and shifted in. Because of this, the horse proved difficult to ride out. Near the 1000 Metres, GRANDSTAND became unbalanced when awkward inside POWER OF SUCCESS. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, AMITY, which was giving ground, got its head up and hung out. About the 100 Metres, GOOD SPIRIT became unbalanced when awkwardly placed between UNIVERSAL GLORY and POWER OF SUCCESS which momentarily shifted out. D Whyte (UNIVERSAL GLORY) explained approaching the Home Turn his initial intention was to improve outside AMITY, but as that horse was hanging out quite badly, he changed his mind to improve between AMITY and PLENTY WIN where on straightening he anticipated the run would be available. He went on to say however just after straightening GOOD FRIENDS improved quickly on the outside of AMITY, shifted in quite abruptly, the run closed and in the run to the winning post GOOD FRIENDS continued to shift in and he was not able to obtain clear running until very near the winning post. The explanations submitted by D Whyte on this occasion were accepted. BANK ON IT was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
