Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, INDIAN ROAD became fractious, reared, momentarily got down and unseated D Whyte. The horse was released from the gates, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who observed INDIAN ROAD had sustained superficial abrasions to the near side flank. The horse was trotted up. The Veterinary Surgeon discussed the matter with D Whyte and he then decided that INDIAN ROAD was suitable to race. The start was further delayed as INDIAN ROAD proved difficult to re-box. When the gates opened, INDIAN ROAD came out awkwardly, bumped the inside of its stall and lost considerable ground. Before being allowed to race again, INDIAN ROAD will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. Just as the gates opened, BEAR WITH ME, which had drawn beside INDIAN ROAD, became fractious and turned its head partially to the near side. BEAR WITH ME then came out awkwardly, lost considerable ground and F Naude was momentarily unbalanced in the saddle. About the 800 Metres, EARL GREY was checked when crowded between RED IN GREEN which shifted out from behind VICTORY MARBLE and WINNING BOY which got its head on the side and momentarily lay in. Also about the 800 Metres, MANY HAPPY RETURNS brushed the running rail. After the 800 Metres, VICTORY MARBLE became unbalanced when being checked to avoid the heels of DELIGHTFUL SPECIAL (Apprentice Y T Cheng) which shifted in when not clear. No direct action was taken, but Apprentice Y T Cheng was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care. INDIAN ROAD was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
