Racing Incident Report

IRON TYCOON was withdrawn on 22.12.01 on veterinary grounds (sore near fore tendon) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter GOLDEN BELL (K H Ting). Before racing again, IRON TYCOON will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. WIN IT ALL missed the start slightly, was further inconvenienced when crowded for room between WILFRED'S NEW PET and CITY FORTUNE, both of which shifted ground. MISSION POSSIBLE left the gates very awkwardly and threw its head about. TOP PRACTITIONER also came out awkwardly and on jumping was further inconvenienced by QUI VIVRA VERRA which shifted in. Near the winning post the first time, HOLLYWOOD STAR and INDIAN TAIPAN were momentarily crowded for room between WIN IT ALL and TOP PRACTITIONER. Rounding the Home Turn, FORTUNE RIVER got its head on the side and hung in away from MEGA-FIGHTER, this caused some crowding to WILFRED'S NEW PET. For some distance in the early part of the Straight, WIN IT ALL was held up for running between MEGA-FIGHTER and INDIAN TAIPAN. To obtain running, WIN IT ALL was steadied and shifted to the outside of MEGA-FIGHTER. D Whyte (QUI VIVRA VERRA) said from about the 400 Metres the horse started to hang in badly, in the Straight whilst the horse was not lame, it was unbalanced and shifting ground in an unusual way. Because of this, he eased the horse down and did not ride it out as he normally would. He did say the horse was travelling in a fashion which suggested it might have suffered a bleeding attack. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon examined QUI VIVRA VERRA. He was unable to find any significant abnormalities. Before being allowed to race again, QUI VIVRA VERRA will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
