Racing Incident Report

Whilst parading behind the gates, LUCKY LAD was kicked by another runner. The Veterinary Surgeon said LUCKY LAD had a small wound on the upper part of its near side front leg. He said the horse trotted out sound and after the necessary consultation, he formed the view it was suitable to race. The start was delayed as REAL GOOD proved difficult to get near the gates. Then to avoid an unreasonable delay as REAL GOOD was proving difficult to box, the horse was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before being allowed to race again, REAL GOOD will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. BEAMING RIVER left the gates awkwardly and just after the start was inconvenienced by HONG KONG VITALITY which got its head up and shifted in abruptly. Running to the winning post the first time, HONG KONG VITALITY became unbalanced when steadied from between ELECTRONIC SEEKER and FORTUNE DANCER which shifted in. From a difficult gate, LUCKY LAD was obliged to race wide throughout and at no stage was able to find any cover. About the 500 Metres, MONEY and ELECTRONIC SEEKER were severely checked. It was established that running to this point, GOLDEN DUKE (Y T Cheng), which was starting to give ground, shifted out slightly away from PERFECT SHADOW. FORTUNE DANCER (A Suborics), which was inclined at this time to be hanging in, got close to the heels of GOLDEN DUKE as it shifted back towards PERFECT SHADOW. The checking to both MONEY and ELECTRONIC SEEKER was severe, however, the Stewards were not able to attribute responsibility to any rider or riders and no action was taken. It was decided however to advise both Y T Cheng and A Suborics to ride with more care than this in future. GOLDEN DUKE, which was giving ground, made the Home Turn awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HONG KONG VITALITY. About the 100 Metres, when closing off strongly, MONEY was steadied and shifted out to avoid CELESTIAL CHIEF. When asked about what could be said to be an improved run of SUPER FORCE, Mr D Cruz, trainer, explained at recent starts the horse has been drawing somewhat difficult gates and has been obliged to cover some extra ground. He said towards the end of October from a good draw, SUPER FORCE ran well when ridden by F Coetzee and at recent runs the horse has been ridden by B Marcus who was not available today. Mr Cruz said had he been in Hong Kong, the mount would have been offered to him. He said SUPER FORCE is a genuine racehorse and whilst finishing out of the placings of recent starts it has not been far away and accordingly has been slow to get relief from the Handicappers. Mr Cruz said from a good gate today he directed S King to lead if possible, but if not to take up a position just behind the leader. He did expect SUPER FORCE from a good draw would run well today. He went on to say from the draw SUPER FORCE enjoyed a very good run in today's race. ELECTRONIC SEEKER and MONEY were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
