Racing Incident Report

M de Montfort (O K PAL) initially weighed out without a girth being fitted to the saddle. This necessitated him having to re-weigh. M de Montfort was reprimanded and told a repetition will lead to action being taken against him. After all runners had been boxed, but before the start was effected, BOLD'N POWER and PROFIT ALL TIMES broke through. When BOLD'N POWER broke through, E Saint-Martin was dislodged. The horse worked a circuit of the course, after being caught, acting on veterinary advice, was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. PROFIT ALL TIMES was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon at the Start who discussed the matter with D Bonilla. It was then decided that PROFIT ALL TIMES was suitable to race. Before racing again, BOLD'N POWER will be required to pass an official barrier trial (stalls test). Following the race, E Saint-Martin was examined by the Club's doctor and passed fit to fulfil his further engagements. It was subsequently established that Mr T O Lau, Deputy Starter, was Starter for the race. From inquiries and tests of the Starter's control box, the Stewards, at this stage, believe there was a malfunction in the control box. The tests of the control box used revealed that without the Starter's button being fully engaged the bell, which signifies the gates are officially opened, sounded, the flashing light on top of the gates ceased operating, and the sectional timing device was started automatically. All three of these mechanisms should only be activated when the Starter's button is fully engaged. The Starter's control box in question was replaced by a spare one which the Club has on hand and the control box which the Stewards believe malfunctioned will be examined by technicians and a full report made. When the gates opened, LANDLORD stood flat-footed and lost a lot of ground. Before LANDLORD will be allowed to race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. NEW PLANET was slowly away. EXPLOSIVE POWER jumped a little awkwardly. Throughout the event, MEGA-FIGHTER raced greenly and shifted a lot of ground. EXPLOSIVE POWER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
