Racing Incident Report

The start was delayed as KING COBRA refused to proceed to the Start in the appropriate fashion. Then in the Straight, KING COBRA proved very difficult to ride out, shifted a lot of ground when under pressure. The performance of KING COBRA was considered by the Stewards to be unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and the Stewards will need to be convinced that the horse can participate in the pre-race parades in the normal fashion and will proceed to the Start in accordance with usual practice. POWER HOUSE, which was being ridden back today, jumped very awkwardly and threw its head up, then for some distance after the start continued to race ungenerously when endeavouring to be settled. Near the 800 Metres, SPEEDY FORWARD was steadied when crowded between TOP RACER and CLEAR MASTER (E Legrix) which was shifting in. E Legrix was told he must exercise more care. After the 800 Metres, TOP RACER became unbalanced when crowded by CLEAR MASTER which got its head on the side and lay in away from TYPHOON. This occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, CHUK WAY, which was racing wide, hung out. In the early part of the Straight, KING COBRA, which was shifting ground, bumped TRY YOUR BEST. About right on the winning post, MILLENNIUM DAWN shifted in and brushed EVERWELL FOREVER. KING COBRA was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
