Racing Incident Report

Before the declaration of weighed-in, S Dye (GREENMORE), 4th placegetter sought permission to view the official patrol film as he thought there may have been grounds to lodge an objection to SPLENDID PATROL, the 3rd placegetter. After viewing all the available films, he considered on this occasion it would be inappropriate to proceed with a formal objection. The weighed-in was semaphored. DR MORE jumped very awkwardly with its head up, shifted out and bumped SPLENDID PATROL, which then shifted out abruptly. As a consequence of this GREENMORE was severely checked and SPARKY was checked when tight on the inside of INDIAN ROAD which, on jumping, shifted in. Despite of the severity of the crowding to both GREENMORE and SPARKY the occurrence was in the opinion of Stewards accidental. About the 1200 Metres, SPARKY became unbalanced when crowded for room between CREAM and LOYAL DEVOTION, which was racing close to the heels of INDIAN ROAD. For some distance after this, LOYAL DEVOTION proved very difficult to settle and continued to race close behind INDIAN ROAD and about the 1100 Metres, shifted ground and bumped CREAM. Shortly after this incident, LOYAL DEVOTION shifted out from behind INDIAN ROAD. Near the 800 Metres, DR MORE became unbalanced when racing inside HUANGDI. About the 700 Metres, HUANGDI was checked rather severely when crowded for room between CREAM, which was racing tight inside LOYAL DEVOTION and DR MORE, which momentarily shifted out away from the rail. The occurrence was accidental, no action was taken. After the 600 Metres, HUANGDI was again steadied when tightened by CREAM which got its head on the side and shifted away from LOYAL DEVOTION. Rounding the Home Turn, ALL WIN hung out. After the 200 Metres, GREENMORE was shifted to the inside of SPLENDID PATROL to find running and shortly after this, was unable to find clear running between SPLENDID PATROL and GOOD POWER. About the 200 Metres, DR MORE which had a tendency to lay out, was checked when crowded by INDIAN ROAD (M Kinane) which shifted in whilst being ridden out to the line. Because of the circumstances, the Stewards believed some doubt existed as to whether M Kinane was fully responsible for the interference suffered by DR MORE. They therefore took no direct action but told him in future he must stop riding and straighten much sooner than he did on this occasion. C Brown (MR DIGNITY) said that the disappointing run of the horse today could be attributed in his opinion to its inability to handle today's track condition. MR DIGNITY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
