Racing Incident Report

On the way to the Start, A Marcus was dislodged from FLEETING TIME. The horse was caught almost immediately and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who could find no significant abnormalities. He discussed the matter with A Marcus and it was then decided FLEETING TIME was suitable to race. LANDLORD was slowly away. Just after the start, MEDIC HERO was checked when crowded between HAPPY BOY and CHATER JADE (G Mossé) which got its head on the side and hung in away from AMITY despite the efforts of its rider to keep straight. Although it was established MEDIC HERO lost running to which it was rightfully entitled, the Stewards believed that G Mossé had done all that could be asked of him to avoid causing the trouble. About the 800 Metres, HAPPY BOY got its head on the side and lay in onto the heels of LANDLORD. Apprentice Y T Cheng (HAPPY BOY) said the horse did not make the Home Turn well and was unbalanced. He said in the Straight as he was concerned with the action of HAPPY BOY, he did not ride the horse out as he normally would. The performance of HAPPY BOY in all the circumstances was considered to be unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. R Fradd (STARLIGHT SUPREME) said today it was the first time he had ridden the horse in a race, but he had ridden it in work and a trial when it was quite impressive. He said today from a good gate STARLIGHT SUPREME jumped well, but it was not able to show the speed that he expected it would. He said he was able to hold a position inside BANK ON IT in the early stages, but getting near to the first turn, he was not able to hold a position inside GOOD CHANCE and steadied to race behind that horse. He said STARLIGHT SUPREME then in the middle stages travelled only fairly and over the concluding stages was very disappointing. STARLIGHT SUPREME was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that MEDIC HERO had sustained a laceration to the near side hind fetlock joint.
