Racing Incident Report

W M Lai (OPTIC FRIENDLY) was fined $2,000 for negligently weighing out without a girth. Whilst being saddled, HORSE OF FAME kicked out and made contact with a wall. After arriving at the Start, HORSE OF FAME was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and it was then decided the horse was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, F Coetzee (DANZIGHILL) asked the Veterinary Surgeon to examined the horse. The Veterinary Surgeon reported that he could find no abnormalities. He further discussed the horse's condition with F Coetzee and it was then decided that DANZIGHILL was suitable to race. HAPPY MOMENTUM jumped poorly, bumped the outside of its gate and because of this Apprentice Y T Cheng was unbalanced. At about the 800 Metres, HORSE OF FAME was momentarily awkward on the heels of SLOTOP which shifted in when barely clear. Near the 600 Metres, BRILLIANT WAY accidentally clipped the heels of CRYSTAL CHARM which itself steadied when awkward behind MADE TO FIGURE. Also about the 600 Metres, HORSE OF FAME and MADE TO FIGURE raced tight. About the 500 Metres, OPTIC FRIENDLY was steadied and shifted out abruptly from behind SOLID CONTACT. Near the winning post, SURPLUS was awkward between HAPPY MOMENTUM which was finding the line strongly and MADE TO FIGURE which shifted in slightly away from SOLID CONTACT. Because of this S Dye did not ride SURPLUS out right to the line as he normally would. W M Lai said the horse left the gates very awkwardly, as a consequence of this he himself bumped the inside of the stall. He said then in the early stages OPTIC FRIENDLY could not keep up and he had to keep riding along to maintain a position towards the middle or little worse. He said in the Straight he was not able to find clear running and as a consequence was not able to properly test OPTIC FRIENDLY out. DANZIGHILL was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that DANZIGHILL was lame in its near side front leg. Before DANZIGHILL can race again, it will be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
