Racing Incident Report

HEALTHY BOBO was slowly away. GRANDIOSO jumped awkwardly with its head up. Just as the gates opened, BOLD'N POWER put its head down and left the gates awkwardly. Just after the start, IDEAL PARTNER and BOLD'N POWER bumped. In the Straight, CLASSIC JESTER hung in. About the 200 Metres, IDEAL PARTNER, which was starting to run into the race strongly, was steadied when momentarily crowded by FAT CHOY TREASURE. S Dye (HYDROGEN POWER) explained just after the start he made the decision to ride along and ensure he held a forward position inside CLASSIC JESTER. He said he did consider steadying and racing behind CLASSIC JESTER but elected not to do so as he thought at the time he may have been further back in the race than was wise. He went on to say in hindsight it may have been better to have ridden HYDROGEN POWER more quietly, but he said even had he done so, he doubted the horse would have been successful tonight as at no stage it was comfortable on the track, was inclined to hang out throughout, about the 600 Metres shifted ground and made contact with CLASSIC JESTER and continued to race awkwardly rounding the Home Turn. HYDROGEN POWER was sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
