Racing Incident Report
As the gates opened, MILLENNIUM DAWN momentarily went down, then on leaving the gates threw its head about and made contact with LITTLE PLAYTHING. Just after the start, LEAD TO WIN was steadied when crowded for room between SPEEDY CHAMPION and THE ESTABLISHMENT which was taken out by FOREVER GOLD which itself shifted out away from ALL SATISFY. Also just after the start, NANNING TREASURE and MILLENNIUM DAWN came together. About the 900 Metres, FOREVER GOLD and SPEEDY CHAMPION were unnecessarily crowded for room by CHEVAL D'OR which was taken in by DRAGON WIN (K S Yu). Shortly after this at about the 800 Metres, SPEEDY CHAMPION was severely checked when crowded between CHEVAL D'OR which was continuing to race tight inside DRAGON WIN and FOREVER GOLD which after being crowded for room made the turn awkwardly and shifted out. As a consequence of the crowding near the 900 Metres, K S Yu was severely reprimanded and told this type of riding cannot be condoned. In relation to the incident near the 800 Metres when SPEEDY CHAMPION was severely checked, it was considered inappropriate to take any action. When SPEEDY CHAMPION checked, some inconvenience was caused to THE ESTABLISHMENT which was following. S Dye (SPEEDY CHAMPION) said after the horse was severely checked near the 800 Metres he rode along to try and improve his position, pulled the whip before the Home Turn, but the horse did not respond, then in the Straight SPEEDY CHAMPION was well beaten, therefore he did not ride the horse out as he normally would. He expressed the opinion that the poor run could be attributed entirely to the crowding the horse received in the middle stages. On straightening, WINMARK shifted out and made contact with FABULOUS. About 100 Metres out, THE ESTABLISHMENT, which was finding the line quite well, was steadied and shifted out to avoid MASCOT. In the run to the winning post, NANNING TREASURE got its head up and shifted out, about right on the line this caused some inconvenience to CHEVAL D'OR. LEAD TO WIN and SPEEDY CHAMPION were sent for clinical veterinary examination and routine testing.
