Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the course, GOLDEN BELL was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said the horse was showing signs of soreness in its near side front leg and in his opinion was not suitable to race. Accordingly GOLDEN BELL was withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Before racing again, GOLDEN BELL will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. HEALTHY BOBO missed the start slightly, but was then checked rather severely when crowded between REALLY LUCKY and TRY YOUR BEST which on jumping shifted out abruptly. INDIAN TAIPAN left the gates a little awkwardly. In the early stages, INDIAN TAIPAN had a tendency to pull and several times was unbalanced when close to the heels of EXTRAORDINARY. About the 400 Metres, HEALTHY BOBO was steadied away from the heels of NATURE'S TREASURE when taken out slightly by INDIAN TAIPAN. D Whyte (REALLY LUCKY) explained in the Straight the horse in his opinion was resenting being hit with the whip, was not stretching out as it should and was inclined to be getting its head up, therefore he put the whip down and rode the horse out hands and heels to the line.
