Racing Incident Report

After being boxed, GALICO became fractious, lunged forward and sprung the front gates. The horse was released and examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. Also after being boxed, PLEASANT SUCCESS was released. The rider expressed concern about the horse and requested it be examined. The Veterinary Surgeon examined PLEASANT SUCCESS and decided it was suitable to race. Before being boxed, the saddle on SIGHT FIRST had to be refitted. As a consequence of these incidents, the start was considerably delayed. FIGARO left the gates awkwardly and shifted out. On jumping, PLEASANT SUCCESS threw its head about and then near the 800 Metres, PLEASANT SUCCESS, which was pulling, got its head up and close to the heels of MASCOT. Running to the 800 Metres, COGITO was awkwardly placed between FOREVER VICTORY and PLEASANT SUCCESS and following WYNDAM ALL. After the 800 Metres, PLEASANT SUCCESS shifted out to be following WYNDAM ALL. As a consequence of this, COGITO was steadied and lost its position in the race. Rounding the turn and in the Straight, FOREVER VICTORY hung out. About the 400 Metres, MASCOT (Apprentice K C Tsang), which was racing inside WYNDAM ALL, endeavoured to shift out, in doing so bumped the hindquarters of WYNDAM ALL, causing that horse to become rather severely unbalanced. Apprentice K C Tsang, who was resuming race riding today from a suspension, was severely reprimanded and told he must exercise far more care. D Dunn (WYNDAM ALL) explained the horse travelled satisfactorily until about the 400 Metres, but when hampered by MASCOT, WYNDAM ALL lost its action and did not finish the race off as he thought it was going to.
