Racing Incident Report

MILLENNIUM DAWN left the gates very awkwardly with its head up and shifted out abruptly. As a consequence of this, KASHMAC, which had missed the start slightly, was checked and MILLENNIUM DAWN bumped DARWIN which itself then shifted out and caused inconvenience to LIGHTMASTER. The occurrence in the opinion of the Stewards was accidental. FAITHFUL ASSURANCE was slowly away. About the 800 Metres, MILLENNIUM DAWN and LIGHTMASTER, which were both racing wide, bumped. Approaching and rounding the Home Turn, MILLENNIUM DAWN hung out. In the Straight, DARWIN hung in and proved difficult to ride out. About the 200 Metres, BOXING DAY, which was giving some ground, was checked to avoid the heels of APPLIED SUPREME (Apprentice K C Tsang) which although hanging in shifted across the running of BOXING DAY when not clear. Circumstances were considered and the Stewards decided on this occasion it was appropriate to severely reprimand Apprentice K C Tsang and tell him he must exercise more care in similar circumstances. Y T Cheng (INCA ROSE) said from the rails draw last start he had ridden the horse in a box seat position and from gate 4 today the instructions were the same. He said INCA ROSE left the gates well, took up a forward position, but would not settle and raced away from the rail throughout. He said after the 600 Metres when he put INCA ROSE under pressure the horse did not respond and in the run to the line was very disappointing. He was of the view the poor run today could be attributed almost entirely to the horse's inability to settle in the early and middle stages.
