Racing Incident Report

JAMIESON left the gates very awkwardly with its head up. At the start, MUNDAHISH bounded in the air. About the 1000 Metres, FAIRWAY FINDER was steadied when momentarily crowded by FISH KING (O Doleuze). O Doleuze was advised to exercise more care. About the 900 Metres, FAIR DINKUM was checked and SUPER SPRINT severely checked when crowded by MEDIC CORPS which was having its first start in a race today and after bumping with MUNDAHISH momentarily shifted in. The crowding was extenuated by MUNDAHISH getting its head on the side and shifting in away from FAIRWAY FINDER which shifted in slightly. The check to SUPER SPRINT was one of significance and the crowding to FAIR DINKUM was clearly unacceptable, however, the Stewards were not able to satisfy themselves as to who was responsible and accordingly no action was taken. When the crowding occurred at about the 900 Metres, JAMIESON was steadied and shifted out. For some distance approaching the 600 Metres, SUPER SPRINT and DYNAMIC WINNINGS raced tight between FAIR DINKUM and BRILLIANT DOLPHIN which was awkwardly placed close to the heels of MUNDAHISH. Just after the 600 Metres, BRILLIANT DOLPHIN was steadied and shifted out from behind MUNDAHISH. On straightening, FAIRWAY FINDER and MEDIC CORPS bumped. D Whyte (FAIR DINKUM) explained on pulling up he was of the view the horse was lame. Because of this, he dismounted and led it back to scale. FAIR DINKUM was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon reported that FAIR DINKUM was lame in its near side front leg. Before being allowed to race again, FAIR DINKUM must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
