Racing Incident Report

HIGHLIGHT left the gates awkwardly and threw its head about and just after the start was steadied when crowded for room between GET IT EASY and BRAVISSIMO, both of which shifted some ground. PROFIT TREASURE was slowly away. Running towards the winning post the first time, GET IT EASY was momentarily crowded between BRAVISSIMO and BRILLIANT which shifted out away from FORTUNE TYCOON. Turning out of the Straight the first time, FORTUNE TYCOON, which was in a position behind BANK ON IT and tending to pull, shifted out from behind that horse, this obliged STAR OF TAI PO to race wide. STAR OF TAI PO continued to race wide, was not able to find cover and over the concluding stages weakened. Approaching the 200 Metres, GUSCOTT was steadied and shifted to the outside of BOLD VICTORY. Near the 200 Metres, PROFIT TREASURE was steadied and shifted in to find running between GUSCOTT and BOLD VICTORY. D Whyte (BRILLIANT) said the horse had been working well, trialing well and it was anticipated it would run well tonight. He said BRILLIANT made the Home Turn very awkwardly, shifted out and started to make abnormal breathing noises, in the Straight the horse felt most uncomfortable under him and in the run to the line he eased BRILLIANT down. The performance of BRILLIANT was considered unacceptable. Before the horse can race again, it will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BRILLIANT was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
