Racing Incident Report

On jumping, SOUNDS GOOD was crowded for room between MY FAVOURITE and CHEVAL D'OR which was taken in by COUNTRY DRAGON. On leaving the gates, MILLENNIUM LEGEND was momentarily steadied, taken across behind other runners to take up a position on the rail but at the rear. About the 1300 Metres, BOLD VISION shifted in slightly, brushed the hindquarters of JOYOUS CHEERS, then shifted out abruptly. For some distance after the 500 Metres, INDY'S GEM raced tight inside TEKON PERFECT and close to the heels of JUST IN TIME, then just after straightening was steadied and shifted out to find running. About 100 Metres out, CHEVAL D'OR was steadied to avoid SOUNDS GOOD which shifted ground when weakening. When questioned, B Marcus (HANDSOME MAN) said from a draw towards the outside he was told by the trainer to try and find a position with cover. He said HANDSOME MAN left the gates satisfactorily, he had hoped to follow COUNTRY DRAGON, but running to the winning post the first time he realized to do so would have meant racing off the track and he thought this would give his horse little or no chance, he therefore steadied and came back to a position near the rear. He said he was able to find a position behind TEKON PERFECT at about the 1000 Metres and hoped that this horse would take him forward. He said however near the 600 Metres he became aware TEKON PERFECT was having difficulty maintaining its position and as he had been instructed to give HANDSOME MAN an uninterrupted run in the Straight, he shifted to the extreme outside. The explanations submitted by B Marcus were accepted.
