Racing Incident Report

DANDY BUNNY and GOLDEN DUKE were slowly away. When the gates opened, ARRIBA-ARRIBA stood flat-footed and lost a lot of ground. Mr K L Man, trainer of the horse, was told if the horse performs similarly again, action will be taken against it. In the early stages, AUTHORISED had a tendency to pull and throw its head about, then just after straightening was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running inside DANDY BUNNY. Then over about the last 100 Metres, AUTHORISED did not obtain clear running and as a consequence was not properly tested out. At the 1300 Metres, WELL CONTEND (Apprentice K C Tsang), which was having only its second race start and proving difficult to settle, struck the heels of SIR GALWAY and shifted ground. As a consequence of this, several runners were inconvenienced. The main sufferers were SUPER FORCE which shifted out, inconveniencing EMPIRE COURT and obliging that horse to race wider. DANDY BUNNY also shifted ground and GOLDEN DUKE was checked. No direct action was taken, but Apprentice K C Tsang was told this type of riding is difficult to justify and he has to exercise much more care. About the 800 Metes, NON SEQUITUR, which was pulling, was shifted in slightly to avoid the heels of FRAT RAT. As a consequence of this, DANDY BUNNY, which had been following NON SEQUITUR, changed course and took up a position behind WELL CONTEND. For some distance near the 400 Metres, DANDY BUNNY had trouble obtaining running between WELL CONTEND which was giving ground and SUPER FORCE. When weakening in the Straight, EMPIRE COURT hung in. DANDY BUNNY was sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, the Veterinary Surgeon said SIR GALWAY had a laceration to its off hind leg. Before being allowed to race again, SIR GALWAY will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
