Racing Incident Report

MAGIC WIN was withdrawn on 8.11.02 on veterinary grounds (temperature) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MR HAPPY (Apprentice M W Leung). MR HAPPY left the gates very awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and bumped the shoulder of FABULOUS, causing that horse to shift ground and make contact with STRATEGIC MOVE. SPECTACULAR WIN jumped a little awkwardly, just after the start was steadied when tightened for room between GOOD BROTHER which was inclined to be shifting out and EQUUS ZEPHYRUS. As a consequence of these incidents, SPECTACULAR WIN got well back. From a difficult gate, EQUUS ZEPHYRUS proved difficult to settle in the early stages, was obliged to race wide and had trouble finding any cover. Approaching and rounding the Home Bend, NEW DYNASTY hung out. In the Straight, CHEVAL D'OR hung in. Also in the Straight, MISSION POSSIBLE got its head on the side and hung in. CHEVAL D'OR and FABULOUS were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer said CHEVAL D'OR was lame in its left front leg. Before CHEVAL D'OR can race again, it will be required to pass an official veterinary examination.
