Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the course, ELECTRONIC SEEKER was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. He said the horse had a swollen muzzle and in his opinion was not suitable to race, accordingly on his advice ELECTRONIC SEEKER was withdrawn by order of the Stewards prior to Race 1. On jumping, HATHLOOL was crowded for room between CONVERGENCE and NAMJONG BEAUTY which was taken in by NICE AND EASY. HATHLOOL then tailed off throughout. The performance of the horse was considered unacceptable. Before it can race again, it must perform satisfactorily and competitively in an official barrier trial. Turning out of the Straight the first time, ORLANDO FLYER threw its head up when close to the heels of THE RICH MAN. About the 1000 Metres, QUICK STEP brushed the running rail. Near the 600 Metres, THE RICH MAN was steadied to avoid the heels of CONVERGENCE which shifted in slightly. ORLANDO FLYER, which was following, was hampered. When questioned, W C Marwing (CITI CENTRE) explained when he rode the horse at its last run, he had been instructed to seek a position behind the leaders if possible. He said however on that occasion CITI CENTRE came from the gates cleanly, as there was not a lot of pace on, he took up the lead and he thought it was in the best interests of the horse on that occasion to allow it to continue on in that position. Tonight the instructions were similar and he was asked to try and ride the horse somewhere away from the lead if possible, but if circumstances were that he was in front, then it would be acceptable. He said CITI CENTRE missed the start slightly, in the early stages he was racing outside ORLANDO FLYER which was not travelling kindly on his inside, he was obliged to allow that runner room. He said after this he was three wide and whilst CITI CENTRE travelled satisfactorily, in his opinion the horse was not happy in tonight's track conditions and was beaten a long way out and he formed the opinion a long way out that the horse would not be in the finish of the race. ORLANDO FLYER and CITI CENTRE were sent for clinical veterinary examination and testing.
