Racing Incident Report
G Schofield was fined $2,000 for accepting rides on both LUCKY TIME and HORSE AROUND. It was established that he had a firm commitment for LUCKY TIME and permission was granted for K C Tsang to be substituted as the rider of HORSE AROUND. PRETTY TRIO was slow to begin. GREAT KID began awkwardly, shifted in abruptly and bumped KALIMANTAN. DONGGUAN EXCELS also began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped HORSE AROUND. From a wide barrier, BARFOLD HERO was immediately steadied and shifted across behind runners in an attempt to find cover. At the 1000 Metres, GREAT KID shifted out abruptly away from the heels of GREAT STAR. This caused inconvenience to LUCKY TIME and BARFOLD HERO, both of which were hampered and carried wider. Making the turn at the 800 Metres, GREAT KID hung out. On straightening, FORTUNE BUILDER was carried wider by FIGHTING MASCOT which shifted to the outside of GREAT KID to improve. Also on straightening, PRETTY TRIO was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of GOLDEN CHOICE which was giving ground. PRETTY TRIO was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. A veterinary examination of PRETTY TRIO did not reveal any significant findings. GOLDEN CHOICE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, it was noted GOLDEN CHOICE, which tailed out, was making an abnormal breathing noise. The horse has previously been reported as a "roarer". The performance of GOLDEN CHOICE was considered unacceptable. Before GOLDEN CHOICE can race again, it will be required to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FIGHTING MASCOT and SHANGHAI FRIEND were sent for sampling.
