Racing Incident Report

While parading before the race, WAH YAN MASCOT shifted its right hind plate. This plate was reset. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, trotted up and considered suitable to race. On jumping, TANAHMERAH and FAT CHOY TREASURE bumped. SHANGHAI FRIEND and BUCK'S FIZZ were slow to begin. LOK WAH SUCCESS began awkwardly, got its head up and shortly after the start was bumped by WAH YAN MASCOT. From the outside barrier, DONGGUAN EXCELS was obliged to race wide and without cover for most of the race. Running towards the first turn, TANAHMERAH, which was proving difficult to settle, was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of WAH YAN MASCOT. After the 1400 Metres, NATURAL ECHO was steadied when crowded for room between SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT and KALIMANTAN which was carried in slightly by LEUNG'S FAVOURITE. No action was taken. After the 900 Metres, NATURAL ECHO became unbalanced and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PRINCE GOLF when racing tight inside WAH YAN MASCOT. Near the 600 Metres, WAH YAN MASCOT became unbalanced and steadied away from the heels of KALIMANTAN. NATURAL ECHO, which was racing inside WAH YAN MASCOT, was inconvenienced as a result. Near the 200 Metres, CHATER LANE, which was beginning to close the race off, was steadied when disappointed for running between SILVER JET and PRINCE GOLF. After this, CHATER LANE was shifted to the outside of PRINCE GOLF and near the 100 Metres was again steadied when disappointed for running between that horse and WAH YAN MASCOT. At the 200 Metres, NATURAL ECHO was steadied when disappointed for running between WAH YAN MASCOT and LOK WAH SUCCESS, both of which shifted ground. After the 200 Metres, TANAHMERAH turned its head to the left hand side and attempted to savage SHANGHAI FRIEND. Shortly after this, TANAHMERAH was bumped by SHANGHAI FRIEND which shifted in. As a result of this, both horses became unbalanced. Mr D Hill, trainer of TANAHMERAH, was advised a warning would be placed on the horse and should it attempt to savage again in the future, action may be taken against it. SHANGHAI FRIEND, SUCCESSFUL SPIRIT and DONGGUAN EXCELS were sent for sampling.
