Racing Incident Report

MAIN ATTRACTION began awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with the outside gate of its barrier. TUSITALA was slow to begin and then in the early stages proved difficult to settle. MIGHTY HUGO began awkwardly. Shortly after the start, GREAT SENSATION was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of BARFOLD HERO. In the early stages, BARFOLD HERO proved difficult to settle. On straightening, MR BEAUTIFUL was steadied and shifted out away from the heels of BARFOLD HERO. When questioned regarding the improved performance of MAIN ATTRACTION, Mr C H Yip, trainer of the horse, said he believed the horse was a slow maturing type and for this reason he had spaced its runs. He added in February the horse received some treatment when it was noted to be coughing and was therefore rested. Since it had resumed full work, Y T Cheng had been riding it in some of its work and he had suggested adding blinkers to the horse and with this gear added the horse's work had improved. The explanations submitted by Mr Yip were accepted. SUN AND MING was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, SUN AND MING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SUN AND MING will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. KNIGHT TEMPLAR, MAIN ATTRACTION and MIGHTY HUGO were sent for sampling.
