Racing Incident Report
After arriving at the Start, Apprentice M W Leung (SALUZI) reported to the Veterinary Surgeon that the horse appeared stiff in its action in front. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and when trotted up was found to be lame in the left fore leg. Acting on this advice, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of SALUZI. Before being permitted to race again, SALUZI will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. On jumping, MODERN PROSPECT was crowded for room between THE PIONEER and WAIALAE WIN which shifted out. All three horses became unbalanced as a result. DOLBRIDGE was slow to begin. From an awkward gate, SONGS OF PRAISE was obliged to race three wide and without cover throughout. At the 1200 Metres, THE PIONEER became unbalanced when crowded for room between COMME D'HABITUDE and SONGS OF PRAISE. In the Straight, COMME D'HABITUDE hung out. COMME D'HABITUDE was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, COMME D'HABITUDE was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No significant findings were made. PRIME VAIN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and testing. After the race, PRIME VAIN was examined by the Veterinary Officer. An endoscopic examination was carried out. This showed a significant amount of blood and mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, PRIME VAIN will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. FORTUNE DANCER and ARROGANCE were sent for sampling.
