Racing Incident Report
CERTAINTY was withdrawn on 6.5.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter FRENCH CONNECTION (K S Yu). COMPANION was also withdrawn on 6.5.03 on veterinary grounds (lame right hind). Before being allowed to race again, CERTAINTY and COMPANION will both be required to pass an official veterinary examination. VISION FIRST was very difficult to load, then after being boxed became fractious, initially attempted to break out under the front gates of its stall, then reared over. Acting on veterinary advice that VISION FIRST was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Trainer B K Ng was told before VISION FIRST will be permitted to race again, it must perform satisfactorily in two successive official barrier trials. GRANDWAY SHUTTLE began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and consequently lost ground. ORIENTAL PEARL was a little slow to begin. Prior to straightening, FRENCH CONNECTION was momentarily steadied when tight between FOREVER WIN and EASY KING which was giving ground. For some distance after the 200 Metres, AMAZING was carried in by NOBLE HERO. In the Straight, when giving ground HK ISLAND VICTORY hung in. ORIENTAL PEARL was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of ORIENTAL PEARL after the race did not reveal any significant findings. GRANDWAY SHUTTLE, NOBLE HERO and GOLDEN FARM were sent for sampling.
