Racing Incident Report

FANTASTIC WIN began awkwardly, got its head up and lost significant ground at the start. On jumping, BELLAGIO shifted out and bumped EXCEPTIONAL. At the 1500 Metres, JUST TOO GOOD was momentarily crowded for room inside RICARDO. At the 1300 Metres, ZERUBBABEL shifted in and was steadied away from the hindquarters of NAOMERIC TE SPECSO. After the 300 Metres, GREAT SENSATION was steadied when disappointed for running between NAOMERIC TE SPECSO which was giving ground and JUST TOO GOOD which shifted in slightly. In this incident, NAOMERIC TE SPECSO became unbalanced. At the 200 Metres, EXCEPTIONAL was steadied when crowded for room between RICARDO and CHATER LANE which shifted in slightly. Over the final 100 Metres, FABULOUS did not obtain clear running between JUST TOO GOOD and DASH FOR VICTORIES. Because of this, FABULOUS was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. Y T Cheng (GREAT SENSATION) said he had been instructed to ride the horse at the rear from the outside barrier today. He said in accordance with these instructions, after beginning well he immediately steadied GREAT SENSATION and shifted it across behind runners to race on the fence. JUST TOO GOOD was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, JUST TOO GOOD was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of mucus in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, JUST TOO GOOD will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. Mr A S Cruz, trainer of ZERUBBABEL, explained after the horse's most recent run, it was found to have a significant amount of mucus in its trachea. He said the horse when ridden in a rearward position previously had shown itself to be one paced, therefore it was decided to reapply the blinkers to ZERUBBABEL and endeavour to have it ridden in a prominent position. He said the horse's win was not unexpected as its work had been good as is usual and he felt that with the blinkers on and being ridden prominently the horse would be highly competitive. The explanations of Mr Cruz for the improved performance of ZERUBBABEL were accepted. ZERUBBABEL and DIVINE FEELING were sent for sampling.
