Racing Incident Report

ZERO IN was withdrawn on 31.5.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter MASCOT (Apprentice P H Lo). Before being allowed to race again, ZERO IN will be required to pass an official veterinary examination. After arriving at the Start, CENDAMY was re-saddled. This caused a delay to the start. CENDAMY began awkwardly, shifted out and was steadied away from the heels of ASSET PLAY. WIEN was slow to begin and shortly afterwards was bumped by MASCOT which shifted in. After the 600 Metres, EVEREST commenced to hang in, then near the 400 Metres shifted in abruptly and caused some inconvenience to SHOW WIN which in turn shifted ground and caused GREAT VALUE to be momentarily crowded. Near the 200 Metres, CHAMPION WINNER, which had been reluctant to hold its position, was steadied when crowded for room between NOBLE VICTORY and DOUCAI (H K Yim) which shifted in slightly while being ridden along. In the circumstances, it was decided appropriate that H K Yim be severely reprimanded and advised in similar circumstances he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount. Over the concluding stages, GREAT VALUE raced tight inside the heels of SHOW WIN and because of this was not ridden out to the line as it normally would be. ASSET PLAY was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, ASSET PLAY was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a small amount of blood in the horse's trachea which was of a questionable significance. CHAMPION WINNER, CENDAMY and GOLFING PARTNERS were sent for sampling.
