Racing Incident Report

After arriving at the Start, the Veterinary Surgeon noted blood in the mouth of BUDDIES POWER. He said after having examined the horse and after the necessary consultations he considered BUDDIES POWER suitable to race. After being boxed, EASY KING became fractious and broke through. As a result of this, BACK SEAT DRIVER also became fractious and broke through. EASY KING was quickly restrained and returned to the Start where it was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. BACK SEAT DRIVER was restrained after working around 400 Metres and returned to the Start where it was also examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said in his opinion the horse was suitable to race. Before racing again, EASY KING and BACK SEAT DRIVER will both be required to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. On jumping, STAR WARRIOR knuckled and lost ground. JOYFUL WORLD and TIGER TIGER were slow to begin. KID GALAXY began awkwardly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. KING OF GAROUPA, which was standing badly, began badly and bumped the inside gate of its stall. BACK SEAT DRIVER began awkwardly, causing J Quinn, its rider, to become unbalanced. BACK SEAT DRIVER was then ridden along to make ground up, near the 700 Metres when proving difficult to settle got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SPEEDY EXPRESS and shifted out, resulting in BUDDIES POWER being carried out wider. The Stewards overruled the protest/objection lodged by A Marcus, the rider of EASY KING, which finished second against SPEEDY EXPRESS (G Mossé) being declared the winner. A Marcus had alleged interference to his mount near the 600 Metres. The Stewards considered whilst SPEEDY EXPRESS did shift in slightly near the 600 Metres, EASY KING also got its head on the side and shifted out, resulting in it being steadied away from the heels of SPEEDY EXPRESS. The Stewards did not consider the inconvenience could be wholly attributed to SPEEDY EXPRESS. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FANTASTIC STAR was crowded for room inside STAR WARRIOR which had its head on the side and hung in. Making the Home Turn, JOYFUL WORLD became unbalanced and brushed the running rail when awkwardly placed inside the hindquarters of KID GALAXY. Also making the Home Turn, EASY KING got its head on the side, shifted out, and shortly after straightening was checked away from the heels of SPEEDY EXPRESS. FANTASTIC STAR, which was following EASY KING, was steadied and shifted in in consequence. Near the 200 Metres, ACE OF PACE was bumped by BACK SEAT DRIVER which when giving ground shifted in. As a result of this, BACK SEAT DRIVER became unbalanced and lost further ground, causing KING OF GAROUPA which was following to be checked severely to avoid its heels. BACK SEAT DRIVER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, BACK SEAT DRIVER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. No abnormalities were detected. SPEEDY EXPRESS and EASY KING were sent for sampling.
