Racing Incident Report

Acting on advice from the Veterinary Officer that GOOD NEWS had a swollen left front fetlock and as such was not suitable to race, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of the horse. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD NEWS will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. When the gates opened, MAGIC TEMPLE bounded in the air, bumped the inside gate of its stall and began very awkwardly. DESERT STORM was slow to begin and then began awkwardly. SUN SHINE RIVER began awkwardly and got its head up. GALLANT HORSE began awkwardly. DANDY BUNNY was slow to begin. In the early stages, AMAZING proved difficult to settle and after the 1200 Metres got its head up. PORTER RICKS was ridden to go forward in the early stages, was unable to clear runners to its inside and then raced wide and without cover throughout. Making the Home Turn, KOWLOON STAR hung out. FORM FIT was sent for a clinical veterinary examination and sampling. After the race, FORM FIT was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a significant amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, FORM FIT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. BEARCAT and KOWLOON STAR were sent for sampling.
