Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, DELIGHTFUL WIN initially refused to jump and lost a considerable amount of ground at the start. DELIGHTFUL WIN then tailed the field throughout. The performance of DELIGHTFUL WIN was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, DELIGHTFUL WIN will have to perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial. In the early stages, WYNDAM EASY hung in. In the middle stages, FLASHING STAR raced wide and without cover. Making the turns, FORTE hung out. CALIFORNIA HAWK and FORTE were sent for sampling. G Schofield, the rider of FLASHING STAR, reported that the horse was not striding out freely during the race. A veterinary examination of FLASHING STAR after the race did not reveal any significant abnormalities. After the race, it was noted ASIA RISING had lost its left front plate. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that he had examined AMAZING VICTORY which was making an abnormal breathing noise. He said an endoscopic examination showed the horse to be a "roarer" and have blood in the horse's trachea. Before being permitted to race again, AMAZING VICTORY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Report (released on 3 November 2003)
G Schofield, the rider of FLASHING STAR, reported the horse was not striding out freely during the race. The horse was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer who said at that time there were no significant findings. FLASHING STAR was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P F Yiu this morning. He said at this time the horse was found to be mildly lame in the right front leg. Before being permitted to race again, FLASHING STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
