Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, LUCKY SIXER bounded in the air, resulting in Y T Cheng, its rider, becoming unbalanced. ZIETENGO BOY began awkwardly, then was crowded for room between PARADIS and TREASURE FIELD which shifted out. After the 1500 Metres, SMART CHIEF was steadied when crowded for room between GLORIOUS LIGHT and MAGICAL WARRIOR which was taken in by SEASONS TREASURE which shifted ground despite having its head turned out. Near the 1300 Metres, PARADIS, which was racing tight inside WISE CHOICE, was steadied away from the heels of ZIETENGO BOY which shifted out slightly. Making the Home Turn, OUT OF MY WAY hung in. On straightening, TREASURE FIELD bumped ZIETENGO BOY when being shifted to the outside of GOOD HEART to obtain clear running. Shortly after straightening, DONGGUAN EXCELS was shifted to the inside of TREASURE FIELD in an attempt to find clear running. Shortly after this, DONGGUAN EXCELS was disappointed for running between TREASURE FIELD and SMART CHIEF which was hanging out. DONGGUAN EXCELS was then steadied and shifted in to continue going forward. In the early part of the Straight, WISE CHOICE hung in. K C Tsang (GOOD HEART) explained he had been instructed if the horse began well to ride it in a forward position and with cover if possible, however, if the horse was tardy to begin, he should ride it in a rearward position. He said GOOD HEART began satisfactorily and he then rode along in the early stages, however, SEASONS TREASURE went forward with him on his inside and he was therefore unable to obtain cover and was obliged to race four wide. He said approaching the 800 Metres he elected to go forward and shift across to be racing outside LUCKY SIXER so as not to continue racing unnecessarily wide. Trainer C Fownes confirmed the instructions given to K C Tsang. LUCKY SIXER and PARADIS were sent for sampling.
