Racing Incident Report

CROCKER was withdrawn on 19.12.03 on veterinary grounds (lame left fore) and SOLID CONTACT was also withdrawn on 19.12.03 on veterinary grounds (lame right fore). Before being allowed to race again, CROCKER and SOLID CONTACT will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CELESTIAL MAGIC was difficult to load. Before being allowed to race again, CELESTIAL MAGIC will have to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test. KINGSTON WINNER, which was fractious in the barriers, began awkwardly, shifted out and caused some inconvenience to GALLANT KNIGHT which was a little slow to begin. EXPECTATIONS and SATURN were slow to begin. SUPER BROSE began awkwardly. Over the final 200 Metres, KINGSTON WINNER hung out and after the 100 Metres was steadied and shifted to the inside of FLASHING STAR which itself was hanging out. When questioned, D Whyte (SATURN) said when he had ridden the horse in a barrier trial last Tuesday, it tired badly over the concluding stages. He said today SATURN after being slow to begin raced in a rearward position as was anticipated. He said near the 600 Metres he gave SATURN a slap down the shoulder with the whip, however, the horse did not lengthen stride as in his opinion it was not appreciating today's firm track conditions. He said he continued to niggle SATURN in an attempt to have it lengthened its stride, however, the horse failed to do so and then over the final 100 Metres he pulled the whip and hit it on four occasions in a backhanded motion but the horse responded only fairly. D Whyte was reprimanded and told his riding on SATURN today had come under notice and whilst the 1000 Metres of today's race was short of the horse's best form overseas, he was expected to ride his mounts and place them under pressure so as to ensure they finish in the best possible position. KINGSTON WINNER was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, KINGSTON WINNER was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon. No abnormalities were detected. CELESTIAL MAGIC and SUPER BROSE were sent for sampling.
