Racing Incident Report

While in the saddling stalls, it was noted FANTASTIC STAR had shifted its left front plate. This plate was re-set. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race. After arriving at the Start, it was noted CHINA CAT had blood in its mouth. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon who said it had sustained a small laceration to the tongue and in his opinion was suitable to race. DOLBRIDGE was slow to begin. ENVOY OF LIGHT began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and was then steadied away from the heels of CHINA CAT which shifted in. FANTASTIC WIN began awkwardly and bumped the outside gate of its stall. On jumping, FABULOUS bumped the inside gate of its stall. After the 1600 Metres, CHINA CAT stumbled when awkwardly placed close to the heels of FANTASTIC STAR. Near the 800 Metres, FABULOUS, which was proving difficult to settle, was awkwardly placed inside the heels of CHINA CAT. At the 400 Metres, MONZA KING was steadied when disappointed for running between DASH FOR VICTORIES and DON SEBASTIAN. To obtain clear running, MONZA KING was shifted to the inside of DOLBRIDGE. For some distance after the 400 Metres, FANTASTIC STAR was awkwardly placed close to the heels of DANEFACTOR when endeavouring to shift to the outside of that horse into a narrow run on the inside of RED BARON. In the Straight, RED BARON got its head on the side and shifted out. The performance of TRI-STAR, which tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, TRI-STAR will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FANTASTIC STAR, FANTASTIC WIN and RED BARON were sent for sampling. After the race, it was noted ENVOY OF LIGHT was making an abnormal breathing noise. The horse was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said an endoscopic examination showed a moderate amount of mucus in the horse's trachea and also the horse was an early "roarer". Before being allowed to race again, ENVOY OF LIGHT will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
