Racing Incident Report

PROGRESSING TIMES began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped ATHLETIC GOLD. EASTKOWLOON SPIRIT was slow to begin. At the 1100 Metres, GRAND FIGHTER was steadied away from the heels of MASTER YING which shifted in momentarily. In the early stages, WISHMASTER proved difficult to settle. Making the turn at the 600 Metres, FIFTY FIFTY got its head on the side when awkwardly placed inside the heels of GRAND FIGHTER. Shortly after straightening, O Doleuze (HEALTHY FRUITS) dropped his whip. D Dunn (GOOD WIN) explained he had been instructed to lead on the horse if possible as is usual. He said GOOD WIN stood well in the gates, however, when jumping his hand was pulled free of the mane which he usually holds to allow the horse to have its head. He said because of this he became unbalanced and came back on the horse's mouth, causing it to get its head up and lose ground. He said after this GOOD WIN settled comfortably although being further back than is usual, however, after the 200 Metres stopped quickly and in the manner which made him think the horse might have bled, he therefore did not ride it out over the concluding stages. The explanation of D Dunn was recorded. GOOD WIN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. A veterinary examination of GOOD WIN after the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, GOOD WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. S Dye (KALIMANTAN), which was having its first start in blinkers tonight, explained he rode the horse along in the early stages to ensure it obtained a forward position, however, KALIMANTAN failed to take the first turn, shifted out and became awkwardly placed close to the heels of GRAND FIGHTER, causing him as a result to check his mount. He said after this KALIMANTAN appeared short in its action and did not stride out, near the 800 Metres blundered and then making the turn near the 600 Metres hung out. He said following the race KALIMANTAN appeared sore in its left front leg. KALIMANTAN was sent for a clinical veterinary examination. After the race, KALIMANTAN was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. The performance of KALIMANTAN was considered unacceptable. Before being permitted to race again, KALIMANTAN will have to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in an official barrier trial around a bend and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. FIFTY FIFTY and MASTER YING were sent for sampling.
