Racing Incident Report

A BETTER DRAGON, ABLE MARS and CHERISHED were slow to begin. Shortly after the start, FLYING KENNY and FRIENDS FOREVER were checked when crowding was caused to PRO JOY, MAGNIFICENT and JUST TOO GOOD as a result of FORTUNE LAD shifting out abruptly. Throughout the race, FORTUNE LAD hung out and near the 500 Metres after being shifted towards the outside of SHINING GEM commenced to hang out badly, ran off the track and in doing so carried FRIENDS FOREVER significantly wider. After the 400 Metres, FRIENDS FOREVER was steadied and shifted to the inside of FORTUNE LAD. Before being permitted to race again, FORTUNE LAD will be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards around a bend. At the 200 Metres, A BETTER DRAGON was checked and shifted out when disappointed for running between STOIC and CHEERFUL BOY. After the 200 Metres, CHEERFUL BOY shifted in and bumped STOIC. C Williams (PRO JOY) said prior to entering the Back Straight he thought he had cleared STOIC and commenced to shift across to race outside ABLE MARS in the lead. He said as he commenced to shift in, he ascertained he was not properly clear of STOIC, looked to his inside and shifted back out. He said when he did this, he became concerned with the action of PRO JOY and felt the horse might have been galloped on by STOIC. He said shortly after this PRO JOY continued to give him concern with its action, gave ground and tailed out in the Straight. PRO JOY was sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, PRO JOY was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said there were no significant findings. Before being permitted to race again, PRO JOY will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. ABLE MARS and FORTUNE LAD were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of ABLE MARS after the race did not show any significant findings. After the race, it was reported FORTUNE LAD had lost its left hind plate. A BETTER DRAGON, CHEERFUL BOY and CHERISHED were sent for sampling. After the race, it was reported CHERISHED had lost its right hind plate.
