Racing Incident Report

NICKU NICKU began awkwardly, bumped the inside gate of its stall and lost ground. When the gates opened, GLORIOUS RHYTHM bounded in the air and lost ground, then shortly afterwards was checked when crowded for room between THUNDER MAN and HAPPY KID, both of which shifted ground and bumped heavily. From the outside gate, with the intention of being ridden quietly, AFRICAN FOREST got its head up shortly after the start when being restrained. Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, NICKU NICKU, which had been hard ridden to make up lost ground, was steadied when crowded for room between WINWIN COMBO which shifted out slightly and COULDN'T CARE LESS which got its head on the side and shifted in away from THUNDER MAN. When being steadied to shift in to obtain a position with cover near the 1200 Metres, HAPPY KID became unbalanced. At the 1200 Metres, AFRICAN FOREST was steadied away from the heels of THUNDER STORM. When AFRICAN FOREST steadied, THUNDER MAN, which was following, shifted out and in turn carried AURELIAN wider. Near the 900 Metres, AURELIAN was steadied to avoid the heels of THUNDER MAN which after initially shifting out shifted back in when not properly clear. No action was taken. Near the 600 Metres, AURELIAN was again steadied away from the heels of THUNDER MAN and shortly afterwards was bumped by GLORIOUS RHYTHM which shifted out. Making the Home Turn, THUNDER MAN hung out. Prior to straightening, THUNDER STORM was steadied and shifted in to avoid the heels of SUPREME MOLLY which commenced to give ground quickly. On straightening, AFRICAN FOREST became unbalanced and was checked when crowded for room between GLORIOUS RHYTHM and NICKU NICKU which shifted out to avoid the heels of SUPREME MOLLY which was giving ground quickly in front of it. In the circumstances, no action was taken. M Rodd (SUPREME MOLLY), which finished tailed out, reported his mount failed to handle tonight's wet track. AFRICAN FOREST and SUPREME MOLLY were sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of AFRICAN FOREST and SUPREME MOLLY after the race did not show any significant findings. COULDN'T CARE LESS, THUNDER MAN and WINWIN COMBO were sent for sampling. After the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that THUNDER STORM had sustained a laceration to the right knee. Before being allowed to race again, THUNDER STORM will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 19 May 2005)
SUPREME MOLLY, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time there were no significant findings. SUPREME MOLLY was again examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer P O'Sullivan this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a cut to the right hind leg and was lame in that leg. Before being allowed to race again, SUPREME MOLLY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
