Racing Incident Report

HONEY MONEY was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 11:15 am today after they had been advised by the Senior Veterinary Officer that he had received a phone call from Mr A S Cruz, trainer of the horse, who had become aware an endoscopic examination was carried out on HONEY MONEY yesterday morning which showed the horse to have mucus present in its trachea. Subsequently Mr Cruz was found guilty of a charge in that he did not conduct his business properly by failing to ensure the Senior Veterinary Officer was notified prior to the commencement of betting on this racemeeting that HONEY MONEY had undergone an endoscopic examination on the morning of Friday 23 September 2005 which showed the horse to have mucus present in its trachea, such finding resulting in the horse being not suitable to race [Rule 50(1)]. For this breach, Mr Cruz was fined a sum of $10,000. In arriving at this penalty, the Stewards took into account the forthright manner in which Mr D Hung, the assistant trainer allocated to Mr Cruz, submitted his evidence that he had failed to properly check the official report in relation to the endoscopic examination. Before being allowed to race again, HONEY MONEY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. TIME SUPREME began awkwardly, bumped the outside gate of its stall and lost ground. VINCERE was slow to begin. GOOD HEART was slow to begin and then took time to muster speed. At the 500 Metres, TIME SUPREME was steadied when held up and unable to improve, then shortly after straightening was again steadied and shifted to the outside of SEASONS KNACK to obtain clear running. At the 400 Metres, AMPLE GAINS was momentarily steadied when awkwardly placed between KIDDY SING and FLYING BISHOP. For some distance after the 400 Metres, ROYAL ARMY raced tight inside SEASONS KNACK when endeavouring to shift to the outside of FLYING BISHOP. Throughout the race, FLYING BISHOP raced wide and without cover. AMPLE GAINS, CIRCUIT KINGDOM and TIME SUPREME were sent for sampling.
