Racing Incident Report
When the gates opened, MR GENKI lifted its front feet off the ground, got its head up and was slow to begin. On jumping, FIGHT BACK got its head up. CRUSADER OF GOLD was a little slow to begin, then shortly afterwards lost further ground after getting its head on the side, shifting in and being steadied away from the heels of RED WINE SUPREME. Shortly after the start, DANRIVA was checked to avoid the heels of LUMINOUS after being bumped by THE ONLY ONE. From an awkward gate shortly after the start, MAGNIFICENT HORSE was steadied and shifted across behind runners, then despite being ridden along approaching the 800 Metres failed to muster speed. After the 400 Metres, FIGHT BACK was checked severely when disappointed for running between THE ONLY ONE and DANRIVA which when giving ground shifted in slightly. In the circumstances, no action was taken. Approaching and passing the 200 Metres, RED WINE SUPREME was reluctant to improve into a narrow run between DEVON FLAIR and AURELIAN. After the 200 Metres, RED WINE SUPREME was shifted out in an endeavour to find clear running. For some distance approaching and passing the 200 Metres, CRUSADER OF GOLD, which was closing the race off strongly, was steadied when unable to obtain clear running between HONEST TREASURE and DEVON FLAIR. S Dye (RED WINE SUPREME) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 100 Metres he shifted his mount out when not clear of PRESENT TREASURE, causing that horse to shift ground, bump the hindquarters of THE ONLY ONE, lose its rightful running and be checked severely. In this incident, THE ONLY ONE became unbalanced behind. S Dye was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 9 February 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension is to take immediate effect. In addition, S Dye was fined $35,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating one further raceday. After the 100 Metres, CRUSADER OF GOLD was shifted to the outside of DEVON FLAIR into clear running. Throughout the race, SUPERB travelled wide and without cover. RED WINE SUPREME, LUMINOUS and THE ONLY ONE were sent for sampling.
