Racing Incident Report

FLAMING LAMBORGINI was withdrawn on 18.2.06 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and was replaced by Standby Declared Starter DON FELIPE (F Coetzee). Before being allowed to race again, FLAMING LAMBORGINI will be subjected to an official veterinary examination. VIVA PATACA began awkwardly and lost ground. Shortly after the start, ABLE STANDARD and LEILATI bumped. In the early stages, GOOD NATURE proved difficult to settle and making the Home Turn hung out. C Munce (GOOD NATURE) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that after the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of LEILATI, causing that horse to be carried in and in turn caused crowding on its inside to PRETTY TRIO which as a result was shifted across the rightful running of DON FELIPE which was severely checked. C Munce was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday 2 March 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Happy Valley racemeeting next Wednesday 22 February 2006. In addition, C Munce was fined $80,000 in lieu of a suspension for a period incorporating two further racedays. On straightening, ABLE STANDARD, which was commencing to give ground, became unbalanced when crowded for room inside DASHING THUNDER which at this time shifted to the inside of PRETTY TRIO into clear running. Also on straightening, DON FELIPE had difficulty obtaining clear running. Throughout the race, SUNBELL travelled wide and without cover. The performance of ABLE STANDARD, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, ABLE STANDARD will have to perform competitively in an official barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. THISTLE KING was sent for an official veterinary inspection. A veterinary inspection of THISTLE KING after the race did not show any significant findings. VIVA PATACA and DASHING THUNDER were sent for sampling.
