Racing Incident Report

When the gates opened, KIMBO KID, which had been restless in the stalls, was slow to begin. Shortly after the start, SPACE SHUTTLE and COP HILL LAD were steadied when crowded for room between DR POSSI and TAIJI SPIRIT, both of which shifted ground. Near the 1000 Metres, KIMBO KID, which had been hard ridden to make up ground, became unbalanced and lost its position when awkwardly placed inside TOP HONOR which itself was awkwardly placed close to the heels of PROFIT HILL which shifted in when barely clear. Making the turn after the 700 Metres, PICTURE PERFECT got its head on the side and shifted out away from TAIJI SPIRIT. At the 300 Metres, TOP HONOR, which was having difficulty obtaining clear runnning, was steadied and shifted to the outside of TAIJI SPIRIT to go forward. G Schofield (DASHING WINNER) was fined $4,000 for improper use of the whip in that near the 200 Metres he struck his mount on two occasions in the vicinity of the head [Stewards Instruction 22(3)]. For the major part of the race, DASHING WINNER hung out. GENKI KING and DASHING WINNER were sent for sampling.
