Racing Incident Report

FABULOUS TREASURE began awkwardly and lost ground. K S Yu (MASTER YING) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 1300 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of CAN OPENER and HAPPY KID, causing those horses to be crowded for room, lose their rightful running and be checked. In the circumstances of this case, the Stewards believed the appropriate penalty was for K S Yu's licence to ride in races be suspended until Sunday 16 April 2006 on which day he may resume race riding (4 Hong Kong racedays). The commencement of the suspension was deferred until after the Sha Tin racemeeting next Wednesday 29 March 2006. Near the 1200 Metres, when being steadied, GOOD TO GREAT got its head up. After the 1000 Metres, CAN OPENER proved difficult to settle. Approaching the turn at the 800 Metres, FLASH HARRY hung in and after this on several occasions got its head up when racing ungenerously. After the 800 Metres, SUPER FANTASY, which was travelling keenly, was shifted to the outside of GOOD TO GREAT. After this, SUPER FANTASY pulled its way forward when racing wide and without cover. At the 700 Metres, FABULOUS TREASURE became unbalanced when being steadied away from the heels of MARS. Also at the 700 Metres, FAST TRACK was steadied away from the heels of HAPPY KID. Then at the 500 Metres, FAST TRACK was again steadied when crowded for room between CAN OPENER and HAPPY KID which at this time shifted out. Making the Home Turn, SKYVIEW BAR hung out. At the 300 Metres, FAST TRACK and CAN OPENER came together. Over the concluding stages, SUPER FANTASY hung in. In the Straight, CLASSIC HORSE hung in. ENRICHING and CAN OPENER were sent for an official veterinary inspection. After the race, ENRICHING was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Also after the race, CAN OPENER was examined by the Veterinary Officer. He said an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucopus in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ENRICHING and CAN OPENER will both be subjected to an official veterinary examination. CALCANDO and SKYVIEW BAR were sent for sampling.
Additional Veterinary Reports (released on 27 March 2006)
ENRICHING, which performed poorly, was examined by the Senior Veterinary Officer. He said at that time an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. ENRICHING was again examined by the Veterinary Officer at the stables of Trainer C H Yip this morning. He said at this time he noted the horse to have a sore left front suspensory ligament. As previously advised, ENRICHING will be subjected to an official veterinary examination before being permitted to race again.
